Design for the Climate: Learning and Retention in Design-based Learning Funded by the Scientific and Technological Research Council of Türkiye (TÜBİTAK), Support Program for Scientific and Technological Research Projects (1001) 08/2024 – 08/2027 Ongoing

The project studies learning and retention in design-based classroom practices on climate change. Students work on design tasks built around climate topics, and the research follows both what they learn and how much of that learning they keep over time. The work is organised around a design-based pedagogical content knowledge framework.

The project team has published a climate literacy book with accompanying classroom activities, İklim Okuryazarlığı Kitabı ve İklim için Tasarla Etkinlikleri, edited by İbrahim Delen (Akademisyen Yayınevi, 2024).

Development of Augmented Reality-based Modeling (ARMO) Application and Training Module to Support Secondary School Students' Conceptual Understanding Levels, Spatial Thinking and Modeling Skills Funded by the Scientific and Technological Research Council of Türkiye (TÜBİTAK), Career Development Program (3501) 02/2023 – 02/2025 Completed

ARMO develops an augmented reality modeling application together with a training module for teachers. The research examines how working with augmented reality models affects secondary school students' conceptual understanding, spatial thinking and modeling skills.

The project is led by Tuğba Yüksel (Recep Tayyip Erdoğan University) and carried out with researchers from Uşak University, Ege University and Istanbul Technical University. Teacher training sessions were held in schools so that teachers could use the application in their own classrooms.
